Between Australia, America and Singapore:

- I can survive without the national holidays I got to celebrate in Singapore 20 years before I came here. Although Australia doesn’t get as many holidays as Singapore does, the amount of Christmas caroling they do here (nearly ad nauseum) is enough to overcrowd the effects of the excessive Christmas lightings on Orchard Road in Singapore. And the amount of fireworks Aussie Idol final show gets is comparable to a Singapore National Day.

- Amount of alcohol Australians consume can drown Singapore. (Exaggeration) I’ve been introduced to the drinking culture, and possibly have increased my alcohol tolerance. Unfortunately, the alcohol knowledge did not extend to the classroom where I made up what BAC meant during a presentation. Very embarrassing. By God’s grace though, I’ve got a distinction for that unit.

- I’m just watching an old episode of Oprah on TV, where it was the day before Obama’s inauguration, and they had this ‘America’ song – and I realised the amount of national songs Singapore has (x = existing classics + yearly new songs that become classics + new songs nobody sings because it’s too hard to catch) and the patriotism (country and school-wise) we’ve got instilled in us through the years of education.. MANNN. Maybe that’s why I have slight withdrawal symptoms from not celebrating Singapore National Day.

Yeah, I got sick of the old one. But this is cool for the sake that there is a random header image every time you load. Well random within the 4 images I put up anyway.

Life’s been pretty mundane these few days, and it’s been the quietest post-Christmas pre-New Year period I’ve been since 2002 – where we had our first 31st Dec church dinner. It’s officially less than a month before I get back, and the new RED moleskine’s been out and in use. :D However I am thinking about installing some sort of pen holder for it – moleskine hack! (:

Anyway, I’m all over the place today – logically and mentally that is. I’ve done a few things I was meant to have done for quite a while, so it feels like I’m gonna end this year with a bit less on the plate.

But yeah, there seems to be a lot that needs to be petitioned, a lot to pray about, a lot to work on. New year resolution ready for the new year – it’s good.

I’m not sure if I’ll be around again before the new year, but if I’m not, merry new year. (:

It’ll be a good year ahead.

So yes, Christmas is over, and boxing day is nearly gone. I’ve gone through my first Boxing Day sale and survived. So yes, an account of the haul:

  1. The Sartorialist book – from E for Christmas. <3<3<3
  2. A fan – from Jemmy for Christmas. NOW I HAVE A FAN!
  3. A Tefal frying pan that went half priced from Target.
  4. A set of bathers. Yes I pretty much went through all viable stores in Carousel in search for one, and somehow ‘found’ it in the last shop I walked into. Maybe it was desperation.
  5. A tummy full of Toto’s number 20, ice lemon tea, half cup of lousy long macc and 2 doughnuts.

Congratulate me. Now you can come to my place and be cool in summer! :D

Listening to: Grace like rain – Todd Agnew

Hallelujah! Grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah! All my stains are washed away, are washed away.

Yes, it’s the first Christmas on potsandkisses.com! I’ve taken a break from last minute present wrapping and card writing to update this corner of the internet.

I have not been able to describe this feeling I’ve been having when I think about Christmas. It started when I was at Carols by the Swan. It was like the most mind-blowing realisation and feeling about that Christmas night, and how THAT night had launched Jesus’ life on earth to redeem us, and carry out God’s great salvation. All these mind-blowing things, it humbles me. Because it hits me so hard about His love and grace – one that I never deserved but has received.

Happy birthday Jesus, and thank youu for coming.

The songs they play are stuck in my head.

Thank you, for making my day so much better.
